I hope that I am not the only one to be upset about the
potential veto coming from the hands of the President tomorrow. In a brazen move, Bush will veto a bill that would help keep 10 million children protected by insurance. The House needs only 15 more votes to pass a veto-proof bill, so let's hope those votes are attained if nothing else for the protection of our future generations.

Is it brazen that "10 million" will not have insurance or that many of those 10 million will come from families with income as high as $60,000 a year.
I'm a firm believer that children should be covered by insurance because they can't choose whether or not they spend money on health insurance; however, expanding SCHIP will allow many families and parent's stop saving or spending money on health insurance and instead relying on other taxpayers to pay for their health coverage.
I'll tell you who I think is being brazen...
Okay, I will admit that I can sort of see part of the Pres' point of view. But, when it comes to vetoing the bill and leaving needy children uncovered, I fail to see logistics. This is one case where I would be happy to rob Peter to pay for Paul's son's chicken pox appointment
I forgot to mention, the money will come from an increase in the federal income tax on cigarettes. Increasing the tax on smokes is just fine with me, sorry Sammy.
